Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Family Vault is a product of Perpetual21. We provide a secure, private vault for individuals to map their assets and leave recovery instructions for their family. You can reach us at hello@perpetual21.com.

2. What We Collect

• Account information: Your email address and password (hashed, never stored in plain text) when you register.
• Vault content: Asset descriptions, locations, emergency contact details, and instructions you enter. All vault content is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before being written to the database. We cannot read your vault content.
• Billing information: Processed entirely by a third-party payment provider. We never store, see, or have access to your card details.
• Usage data: Login timestamps, export logs, and reminder history — used for security and service continuity only.
• Two-factor authentication: If enabled, we store a hashed TOTP secret. We do not store recovery codes after generation.

3. What We Never Store

We explicitly prohibit the storage of seed phrases, private keys, wallet passwords, and exchange credentials. Our system is designed to store descriptions and physical locations only. Any attempt to store such data violates our Terms of Service and provides no additional security — it would expose you to greater risk, not less.

4. How We Use Your Data

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Family Vault service.
• To send transactional emails: account verification, password resets, billing receipts, and trial expiry notices.
• To send periodic update reminders every 6 months (opt-out available at any time).
• We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties except as strictly necessary to operate the service (payment processing, email delivery, and encrypted database hosting).
• We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data — including vault content — is permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymized aggregated data (e.g., total user counts) may be retained indefinitely.

6. Security

All vault content is encrypted using AES-256-GCM before storage. Connections are protected by HTTPS/TLS. We enforce rate limiting, brute-force protection, and offer optional two-factor authentication. Encryption keys are derived from your account credentials and are never stored in recoverable form.

No system is perfectly secure. We apply industry-standard protections but cannot guarantee absolute security. You use Family Vault at your own risk and are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential.

7. Your Rights

• Access: You can view all data you have entered at any time by logging in.
• Export: You can export your vault to PDF at any time from within the application.
• Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and all data by emailing hello@perpetual21.com. We will process requests within 30 days.
• Correction: You can edit any information in your vault at any time.

8. Cookies

We use a single session cookie strictly necessary to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies. No third-party cookies are set by our service.

9. Third-Party Services

We work with carefully selected third-party service providers to operate the service — including payment processing, email delivery, and encrypted database hosting. Each provider is bound by their own privacy and security obligations. We share only the minimum data necessary for each provider to perform their function.

10. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by Swiss law. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Canton of Zurich, Switzerland.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
